Diversity and Inclusion in construction C.I.C

Our Background

Young people are our future. They will ultimately be the employees, self-employed and/or business owners of the future. If we educate them now, they will take these principles into the workplace and embed them into their businesses.

Sustainability, making sure that this is understood. Many quote sustainability but few actually understand it. To be sustainable we need to ensure that what we use in our daily lives is readily available for us, and future generations, from food and fuel to materials and technology.

Diversity, ensuring that our organisations are truly diverse in their make-up, allowing opportunities for all to engage and be part of what they, the organisations, are trying to achieve. Being active within under-represented groups and showing them the opportunities that they can aspire to.

Inclusion, recognizing that everyone has the potential to make a contribution, and make a difference to what we all want to achieve, however large or small that contribution is, it is valuable. Proving to everyone their worth and the value that they bring to society.

There are many pressures on young people today, from peer pressure to social media. This is very apparent within certain sections of society, especially with young ladies, and for those from ethnic minorities. Many of these areas of society are overlooked and not included within the sustainability agenda.
