Diversity and Inclusion in construction C.I.C

Past Events

The DIIC partnered with Canterbury Christ Church University on 30 October 2025 to host an inaugural Diversity & Inclusion in Construction Conference during Black History Month.

Nearly 200 leaders and attendees from housing, construction, engineering, procurement, and education came together.

The event focused on representation, equity, and improving access to careers in the built environment.

Students, graduates, and career changers gained guidance on pathways into construction and connected with identity-aligned support groups.

Professional bodies such as CIOB and RICS provided first-hand insight and industry guidance.

Attendees included university students, college learners, sector professionals, apprentices, and senior leaders.

Industry leaders discussed barriers to entry, mentorship, allyship, and creating inclusive, sustainable workplace cultures.

The event launched the DIIC EDI Certified Training programme to help organisations embed measurable, inclusive practices.

Support networks like WISH, Women Talking Fire, and CIWM strengthened the event’s collaborative impact.

Networking created tangible opportunities, opening doors for talent and employers, and the next DIIC conference is set for 29 October 2026 (Save the  date)
